the next batch...

on july 2, 2001, alex was born. on july 1, 2002, his sisters annie and emily were born. i'm just going to apologize now...you're about to see alot of pictures b/c i couldn't decide which ones to put up. emily is the one on the left and annie on the right.

sweet annie and emily are best friends, but couldn't be more different. emily likes things very neat and tidy. she would be extremely upset if she didn't make her bed up before she went to school. she loves organizing things. she also says she is going to move to new york when she is 10.
she is in the picture with the curly red hair.
annie isn't so much messy, but cleaning isn't her favorite thing. she adores animals, and would love to get in the mud with them! she is on the right with the bright blue eyes and brown hair.

they are so sweet, and love to color...anything. the day before their little sister's first birthday they came across a blue sharpie during naptime. my sister was on the phone when they came out from naptime. they were covered head to toe in blue. she told the person on the phone that they were blue. that person wisely said, "i wonder what else is blue." everything. walls, carpet, dolls, their baby sister. molly, their sister had been asleep in her crib. they climbed over and decorated her for her birthday party. molly's eyes were closed, so they drew lines on them. when molly opened her eyes it looked like she had fake blue eyelashes.

there are pictures of annie with short hair. last year she decided to give herself a haircut. her mama asked her why she cut her hair. she told her, "i looked in the mirror and it said 'boring.'" apparently she had seen some commercial that inspired her. she still rocked the short do!
next year they will be starting kindergarten. right now emily is trying to decide if she should go by emily or mimi...her self-given nickname. mimi totally fits her. i know that it seems impossible for me to have this many cute nieces and nephews, but i do! and there are two more to introduce!

pictures...

here are some pictures of alex, cailin and jack together. they are all best friends and sometimes wish they could be siblings instead of cousins...

they all love running in their granddaddy's back yard, dressing up...every now and then it's actually for halloween.

the last of the first batch...

all three of my siblings had children within 2 months of each other. this is my oldest brother, clint, with his son, jack.

sweet jack jack lives in birmingham, which is a lot closer than texas! on one such trip to birmingham we got to see one of jack's baseball games...

clint is the coach for his team and missed the "draft" day (they are hardcore in birmingham). he told them that he would take all of the kids that weren't selected. i think they lost their first 8 games or so. they were absolutely the bad news bears team. one of the kids on the team wasn't much taller than the bat he was using. clint was so patient with them and taught them the basics...then they actually started winning games! when we were there we got to see jack's first game in the championship tournament. i've been to a lot of buddy ball games, but this one was the most exciting i've seen in a long time. jack did a great job and had 12 people in the stands cheering for him. they won that game and went on to win the overall championship!!
i know the picture is of him playing soccer, but i don't have one of him in his basball outfit. he totally has the whole hand-eye coordination down...something his aunt emily and aunt nette struggle with. the picture to the left is from this past christmas when uncle thom brought his guitar hero. jack was really good, and decided he wanted to start learning how to play guitar.
next time i'll try to get some video of him playing.

next in line...

it's been 7 years (in august) since this picture was taken, but that is my brother, thom, and his oldest little girl, cailin. when he brought her out he had a surprise for us...he pulled off the cap and she had red hair!!
my brother and sister-in-law both have brown hair, but my sweet little niece got it from my dad...who had red hair back in his day...promise!

cailin and family moved to san antonio a 1.5 years ago and we miss them so much!! we were able to see them over christmas, but hope that they will make a summer visit in a couple of weeks! i think we all threatened them that we would bring the whole crew to texas if they didn't come.

cailin has always loved small toys like polly pockets. back in the day they used to live next door to my sister and down the street from me. anytime cailin came over my sister would have to do "polly pocket checks" at the door. my sister and her husband enclosed the garage in their old house and had a large playroom with nothing but toys and one sofa. cailin would often lose parts of her polly pocket in the abyss that was that playroom. polly pockets are small, but their shoes and other accessories are even smaller!

cailin and alex loved living next door to each other, so hopefully when they get older we can convince them to move back to mississippi!

my brother called me the other day and told me that cailin had gotten a book from the library. while she was reading it he heard her say, "aunt emily is in this book." ??? apparently there is a picture of joel and me from youth legislature when we were in high school. not quite sure how i feel about that!

i have some more pictures of cailin with alex and jack, but i'll post them later!

introductions...

alex o'reilly is everyone's best friend...everyone. from the kids in his school to the strangers he meets in the grocery store that you are hoping he won't talk to.
he is the oldest of all my nieces and nephews, so i figured i would start with him.
the picture to the left was taken on his first birthday in the hospital...a day after his twin sisters were born.
i can't believe that he turned 7 this summer! he's about to start the first grade. i can actually remember the first grade! they're all getting way too old!

when alex was little he used to call himself "ya ya." he's probably getting too old for me to call him that, but i can't help it. he is very outgoing and has wanted to have the following occupations: firefirghter (typical child aspiration), rockstar (typical o'reilly aspiration) and most recently chef. he has always helped his mama out in the kitchen and loves coming up with new creations. he could flip pancakes at the age of 4...i just learned how to do that. i'm pretty sure he could make it as a comedian too.

my sister is an amazing mom. 4 kids in 2.5 years...she is my hero. her kids fight over who gets to set the table at night b/c they get to be the "waiter" for the night. genius!

this picture below was taken a while back, but it doesn't really sink in til you see a picture of all 4 of them! i just hope i'm as good a mom as she is!!

the first post...ever

apparently i started a blog 4 years ago, but i don't remember the password for it. the web address for it was just the simple emilyguthrie, but now anything close to that is taken. i started typing in random things and "onlylowercase" was available. since i've always written and typed in lowercase i thought why not. at least the top part will say em g.
so here is my blog.
i don't promise it to be interesting, educational or funny...but here it is.
i'm not married and i don't have kids, but i have really cute nieces and nephews that i claim as my own.
it took me a long time to finally decide on a color for my blog and now i'm tired.
hopefully i will add some pictures and fun stuff soon.

xoxo
